Mmc 60th Anniversary Meeting Minutes

The Vincent Massey 60th Reunion is taking place the weekend of June 2nd to June 5th 2022.
This will be a very exciting time!
The previous reunions held in 1985 for the 25th and in 2000 for the 40th and then in 2010 for the 50th, brought alumni home from all over Canada, the US and even the World , to join with all who live in Winnipeg. Those reunions were such grand celebrations of friendship, camaraderie and fun .
The VMC 60th reunion in 2022 promises the same magic. There will be plenty of opportunity to reminisce, remember and relive memories of high school days in Fort Garry. Join in and renew friendships with those we shared our youthful days with at Vincent Massey Collegiate from the 60’s to the 2000’s!

A great group of VMC alumni have been meeting since February of 2019. A schedule has been planned, the venues have been chosen and everyone is hard at work to create a weekend to remember for everyone.

  • I think it'd be interesting to try Elise uprights and hubs on the Caterham so the MMC brakes could be used. I don't know what the Caterham discs weigh, but the Elise standard EBC ventilated disc is 5.605kg, while the MMC is 2.9kg. If the twinpot lightweight calipers are used, another 2.2kg is saved.
  • With the 60th anniversary of the original show’s debut coming this October, we thought it might be fun to reimagine what a contemporary version of the cast would look like. So come along and sing the song and join the jamboree, whilst mulling over our 2015 MMC dream cast.

Thank you

Congratulations on a fabulous weekend. It was so much fun to reconnect with old classmates ( I know I am not supposed to use that word even tho it may be the most fitting). I wanted all to know that I appreciated all the hours that were put into the event. Thank you for making the 50th reunion a wonderful weekend. – Meredith

Wonderful

What a splendid reunion! It was wonderful connecting with old friends…both from VMC and from elsewhere. My parents moved out of Fort Garry in 1966…and I left Winnipeg on 1974…so there were many people I had not seen for 40 years. Special – Gord

Coronado’s Golden Age of Film

The 60th Anniversary of the filming of Some Like it Hot was recognized in 2018. In honor of that special film anniversary, the Coronado Historical Association hosted a new exhibit: Coronado’s Golden Age of Film, open November 2018 to January 2019. The exhibit featured a retrospective of Coronado’s fascinating film history, including a Coronado Hall of Fame of the many cinematic Coronadans, like Johnny Downs and Anita Page.

The exhibit’s premiere jewels were pieces from the world’s largest Marilyn Monroe Collection. The Coronado Historical Association was honored to host The Marilyn Monroe Collection (https://themarilynmonroecollection.com/). The Marilyn Monroe Collection comprises a lifetime of memories, both Marilyn’s and the collector’s. The MMC loaned to the Coronado Historical Association a selection of Coronado-centric pieces from the collection consisting of items from Marilyn’s personal wardrobe, including a dress she wore off the set during filming of Some Like it Hot, cosmetics, books from her personal library, numerous personal and professional documents, a Marilyn Monroe signed bank check made payable to her acting coach Paula Strasberg, and other items directly from her estate.
